V. STAR DRIVER AWARD - DIVISION 1 & 2 (multiple awards per company)
The NDSC’s driving award program recognizes drivers of MEMBER companies with admirable safety records. The criteria indicate what is expected of each driver regarding safety performance and their skills to avoid traffic crashes while at work. Eligibility of drivers is based on the National Safety Council’s guidelines for reporting individual driving records as well as motor vehicle crashes. Nominees’ can be CDL or non-CDL drivers whose responsibilities include a significant amount of time operating a company motor vehicle.
To qualify, the company must have a seatbelt policy in place that requires the use of seatbelts when driving or riding in a vehicle. Company must also have a cell phone use policy in place that restricts the use of cell phones (hand-held or hands-free) while driving, for all employees, including texting, internet use, and phone calls.
DIVISION 1
A. Individual must have a minimum of 10 years experience operating company vehicle.
B. Individual must have driven a minimum of 250,000 miles incident free.
C. Provide documentation showing current cell phone and seatbelt policies.
DIVISION 2
A. Individual must have a minimum of 10 years experience operating company vehicle.
B. Individual must have driven a minimum of 1,000,000 miles incident free.
C. Provide documentation showing current cell phone and seatbelt policies.
